Cremains series

Photographic series depicting ‘orthopaedic and metal cremains’ isolated from cremated human ashes.

(9 x Digital photographic prints on plantine fibre rag 30cm x 30cm - narrative accompanies each image on an ipod with headphones)

In the crematorium orthopaedic/miscellaneous metal cremain were divided, isolated, piled and arranged then photographed in series and isolation.

Additional miscellaneous items were also photographed - items I found that adorn and accompany the body into the afterlife (pictures, spectacles, jewellery, money)- gestures of sentimentality by family members only to be separated from the cremains and discarded or recycled after cremation.
